Jubilee Jumbles
»1/2 cup shortening
»1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
»1/2 cup white sugar
»2 eggs
»1 cup evaporated milk, undiluted
»1 teaspoon vanilla
»2 3/4 cups flour
»1/2 teaspoon baking soda
»1 teaspoon salt
»1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Cream shortening and sugar; beat in eggs. Stir in milk and
vanilla. Combine flour, salt, soda and nuts, then stir into
batter. Chill for 1 hour. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches
apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about
10 to 12 minutes.
Variation: Substitute 1 cup of raisins, coconut, or chocolate
chips for the nuts.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
